Right now I want...

A KINDLE!

I love to read. I can honestly say that I spend the majority of my money on books. This summer I read AT LEAST 10 books (one of which was Mockingjay, but I'm too traumatized to talk about it yet).

Also, my parents might be moving soon and my mother told me that I'm not allowed to keep buying books. *gasp* I was thinking that I was gonna have to stick to taking books out at the library, but I hadn't even considered other options.

I had been seing people around with portable readers for a little while now, but never really got my hands on one. Then my friend Sarah got a Kindle for her birthday and I got to play with it last week. I am now completely obsessed!

I am a frequent re-reader of books I like, so needless to say my favorite books are a little worse for the wear. I really like having the book I'm currently reading thrown in my purse or bag so I can just pick it up when I have free time. However, books take up a lot of precious space in the purse. A Kindle would be so light and space-saving to carry around with me.

One of the arguments against portable readers reminds me of something Giles said on Buffy. "Smell is the most powerful trigger to the memory there is. A certain flower, or a-a whiff of smoke can bring up experiences long forgotten. Books smell musty and-and-and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer is a - it, uh, it has no-no texture, no-no context. It's-it's there and then it's gone. If it's to last, then-then the getting of knowledge should be, uh, tangible, it should be, um, smelly."

I, too, enjoy the smell of books. However, I'm not saying I want books to become obselete. In fact, I hope that never happens. I'm sure that I'll have some books in paperback and Kindle form.

I'm baaaaack

Even though I'm pretty sure no one reads this any way, I'm gonna appologize for going M.I.A. for a bit. Things finally pumped into full gear the last couple weeks at school and I even had my first exam since I've been back. Not to mention the fact that my laptop decided to commit suicide and spontaniously break apart into a useless mess a week and a half ago. Needless to say, I was not pleased about having to (have my parents) buy a new computer only after using the other one for a year. Of course it chose to break 2 months after the warranty ran out, right?

Moving on to happier subjects... my new computer and I are very happy with one another. We may be still in the honeymoon stage, but I see this relationship lasting a long time.

Also, this is my fish. She's pretty. Her name is Indigo Renesmee, but I call her Indy.

This is Rob. He lives on my bedroom wall and in my fantasies. I stumbled across this fucktastic illustration of him today. Credit and props go to James Dawe, the artist. Click on it to make it bigger, bitches.

Moving on from my Roblust filled haze...

Books I've read since my last post:

\Night's Edge by Maggie Shayne, Charlaine Harris, and Barbara Hambly. My mom got me this one as a back to school pressent. (Thanks for the smut, Mom!) It's compiled of three stories that are roughly 100 pages each by these three lovely writers. C-Harris' story is based in the same "universe" as The Southern Vampire Mysteries AKA True Blood. The other two are about various supernatural spooks, but are in no way less satisfying. I'd recommend this to anyone who loves 'em some Sookie Stackhouse.

I have been waiting over a year to get my hands on Catching Fire ever since I first set down The Hunger Games. I refuse to spoil it for anyone, but I have to say that this book was seriously tearing at my heartstrings and that I am STILL team Peeta! You need to read this book. And The Hunger Games. Now!

I just started City of Ashes and I have barely made a dent in it, but if it's anything like City of Bones then I'm sure I will adore it. The first two Mortal Instruments books that I own have been recommended by Stephenie Meyer and she has yet to lead me wrong. *cough* Read The Hunger Games *cough*

Fics that I'm reading:
Please bare with me, I've been reading a lot... some of these may be repeats, but I love 'em too damn much to care

The Lost Boys by hwimsey
I just read this in the past couple days and it is one of those fics that I think are just classic. For me, it's up there with the holy of holies: Boycotts and BarFlies by vjgm.

Blood and Lust by AwesomeSauce76
I had started reading this before when it was only a couple chapters in, but I got back to it today and now I'm caught up :) It's set in Breaking Dawn with human Bella and vampire Edward and his massive erection.

Show and Don't Tell by Brits23
Uncle E and Miss Swan are phenomenal, just like everything else about this story.

Breaking Edward by browniechadowes
OCDward is still sexy despite his compulsions. Fuck olives!

Living Backwards by ciaobella27
Bella goes back in time. Bella likes to name inanimate objects. Edward's still a sexy 17 yr old motherfucker, go figure...

Faking It by spanglemaker
This story just got completed. I don't know what I'm gonna do without my updates of Actorward and LeadsingerBella... notgonnacrynotgonnacrynotgonnacry

101 Places to Have Sex Before You Die by kARLOTITA09 and XShear
The title really speaks for itself ;) I love everything these girls write to pieces. Check their shit out, pronto!

The Taste of Sin by emarroquin and Emerald_Rosalie
Edward is a bad vamp and Bella's a lot more durable than the average human. I'm just gonna leave it at that...

Work In Progress by araeo
Bella has talking ovaries and these girls are only after one thing: the Precious.

Rhapsody by annanabanana
I have no words, so I'm gonna quote the summary: "A reclusive, idiosyncratic composer and a beautiful, eclectic dog walker cross paths for six months without ever meeting. What happens when they work up the courage to talk to each other?" Snap.

Clipped Wings and Inked Armor by hunterhunting
Edward and Bella both have scars. Edward tries covering his scars with ink... This story is hott as fuck.

Edward Wallbanger by feathersmmmm
Edward's nightly activities tend to get loud. NeighborBella is not pleased.

Tides by lambcullen
Bella's grandpa leaves her a house in his will. Too bad it already has an inhabitant, and a sexy one at that.

Making the Cut by ShearEnvy
Bella's a hairstylist. Edward's a cadet. *sigh*

Things I'm obsessed with right now:

Mini-cups of Haagen-Dazs Dulce de Leche ice cream. Ungh! They are everything I could want and more. They even include a little scooper spoon in the lid! How cool is that!?

Deep breaths... Moving on

Baby Otters! Do I even need to explain? They are officially my new favorite animal.

ANYTHING that gets posted on http://weheartit.com/. Find my favorites at http://weheartit.com/prettybadwords. Come prepared, things could get smutty :)

Okay, I'm done for now!

settled in at last

I'm finally back at college! As the title of today's post suggests, I'm finally settled in to my dorm room. Unfortunately, in the short period of time that I've been moved in I've already found a plethora of my roommate's annoying habits. *sigh* Why can't I ever find someone as flawless as myself to live with? I'm deffinitely demanding my own room next year or taking a position as a Resident Assistant. No joke.

I need to vent a little so I'm gonna go ahead and list the annoying things she does:
- she takes up both sides of our sink
- she leaves discarded clothing in the middle of where I walk
- she has the ugliest yellow and organge plaid sheet set complete with teddybear head attached and white frills
- she opens the door when I'm changing
- she listens to Top 40 music. out loud. while I'm trying to do work
- she turns on stupid t.v. shows and then doesn't even pay attention to them

*deep breath* I feel a little better now.

My current "I'm too lazy to walk to the dining hall" dinner is:

I was a little hesitant at first, but it actually tastes like a cheesy taco. Who woulda thunk?

Robert Pattinson photo of the day:

This panty-drenching photograph is one of an exclusive set released on the internet today. Unfortunately it has the tag in the way, but I'm sure there'll be some way around that soon.

Moving on before I get too hott and bothered...

Books I'm reading:

It's pretty good from what I've read so far. I'm only about 65 pages in at the moment. The quote on the cover of my book is by Stephenie Meyer who apparently thinks that "The Mortal Instruments series is a story world that [she] love[s] to live in. Beautiful!" I absolutely love The Hunger Games, which SM also recomended, so I'm going to take her word on this series, as well.

Fics I'm reading:

Confessions of a Nanny by Melissa228

The Office by tby789

Tropic of Virgo by In_a_blue_bathrobe

Art School Confidential by farkle

Desiderata by kimpy0464

Things That Go Bump in the Night by mac

Breaking Edward by browniechadowes

Failure To Thrive by Julesnerd

Show and Don't Tell by Brits23

These are "All Human" and "Alternate Universe" stories and none of them are really angsty. As I've mentioned before, I LOVE smutty fanfic! So these are all M or NC17. I give each and every one of these fics my full recomendation because I'm obsessed with each and every one of them. GO READ THEM ALL!

I aso read an epic one-shot the other day called Art Model and it's by dollegirl. It is filled with pure win. GO READ IT!

All right, I'm done. For now...

still much to do

You too can dress your son in sexpenders a la Robert Pattinson! I found these during a quick run through Marshall's/Homegoods today. Snazzy, huh?

And while I was tracking down a good picture of Rob in said sexpenders, I came across this beauty of a video. I found it at Random Acts of Rob and it sets my lady parts all a flutter :) Rob + NIN's "Closer" = Pure Sex. Might just have to put it on a constant loop.

Moving on...

KATNISSSSSSSS! *screams like a fangirl* As I've mentioned before, I am currently rereading The Hunger Games and if you haven't already heard: the sequal, Catching Fire is coming out on September 1st! So if you haven't read HG yet, you REALLY really should.

May the odds ever be in your favor :)

THIS is what every man should smell like.

If they cannot get a hold of Pattinson Cologne, they should look into AXE dark temptation scented products. It smells like sexy man chocolate. Trust me, that's a good thing.

Better get back to packing soon. Have fun with that "Closer to Rob" sexytime video. I know I will ;)
