Right now I want...
A KINDLE!
I love to read. I can honestly say that I spend the majority of my money on books. This summer I read AT LEAST 10 books (one of which was Mockingjay, but I'm too traumatized to talk about it yet).
Also, my parents might be moving soon and my mother told me that I'm not allowed to keep buying books. *gasp* I was thinking that I was gonna have to stick to taking books out at the library, but I hadn't even considered other options.
I had been seing people around with portable readers for a little while now, but never really got my hands on one. Then my friend Sarah got a Kindle for her birthday and I got to play with it last week. I am now completely obsessed!
I am a frequent re-reader of books I like, so needless to say my favorite books are a little worse for the wear. I really like having the book I'm currently reading thrown in my purse or bag so I can just pick it up when I have free time. However, books take up a lot of precious space in the purse. A Kindle would be so light and space-saving to carry around with me.
One of the arguments against portable readers reminds me of something Giles said on Buffy. "Smell is the most powerful trigger to the memory there is. A certain flower, or a-a whiff of smoke can bring up experiences long forgotten. Books smell musty and-and-and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer is a - it, uh, it has no-no texture, no-no context. It's-it's there and then it's gone. If it's to last, then-then the getting of knowledge should be, uh, tangible, it should be, um, smelly."
I, too, enjoy the smell of books. However, I'm not saying I want books to become obselete. In fact, I hope that never happens. I'm sure that I'll have some books in paperback and Kindle form.

Brothers!
I am so into The Black Keys lately. I am in love with Dan Auerbach's voice! I first heard them on Pandora sometime last year on my Kings of Leon station and I was SO excited when I found out they were gonna be on the Eclipse soundtrack.
I've been putting off buying their newest album, Brothers, because iTunes only had the deluxe version and that was $11.99 and I'm really cheap. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I went on iTunes today [to get the free song of the week] and they were having a back to school sale. So I just purchased Brothers [Deluxe] for $7.99 and I am LOVING it so far.

Sookie Fever!
So I am currently rereading all of the Sookie Stackhouse books in Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire Mystery series. I started reading the books after I watched the entire first season of the HBO show in one weekend. They are a really great, easy read for anyone who likes supernatural/fiction/mystery/romance stories. Harris makes Sookie's character into an everyday person you can easily relate to (apart from all the supernatural shit she deals with).
I'm fortunate enough to have HBO at my house and I am literally glued to the television every Sunday at 9pm when True Blood comes on. I'm liking this season SO much more than the last season! That Maryann tangent really went on for too long.
I've recently become obsessed with this website/tumblr account: Sookie Is Mine! The True Blood images and .gifs I find are always hilarious, but they may contain some spoilers! You've been warned.
I REALLY want one of these mugs, but I'm a broke college student and I cannot afford it. They are $32 a pop and you can find them on Etsy.com from MaidOfClay
I would have to say that Eric Northman is my favorite True Blood vamp on the show and in the books. He is absolutely sexy. He may be an asshole the majority of the time, but he never claims to be something he's not. He is unapologetically true to himself and I admire that in a person... uh I mean vampire. Plus, he genuinely cares about Sookie.
In summation, Eric Northman is a VILF.

Curious Clothes Edition
The title of today's blog post is pretty self-explanitory, but in case you missed out I'm gonna be showing cute clothes that I find on the internet. Today I'll be focusing on Modcloth.com becuase that's what I'm browsing currently. I'm on the petite side of things with an average build so I'm gonna be looking at things that flatter my body type and maybe a few I wish looked good on me. I'm also studying to be a teacher, so a lot of the less formal dresses I pick out keeping in mind I might want to wear them to work some day. So even though I want to teach yound kids, I still want to be the hott teacher, but I digress...
On with the show!
This one's named after the first-lady and I really like structure styled dresses for a work look. I also think they accentuate the curves I have well.
I like how this is a taylored jacket so it would be flattering and functional, but my favorite feature is the hood. Hoods are a must have for me.
I'm rather pale so color plays a large role in the clothing I select. These colors are muted, but I think I just might be able to pull them off. I'd love to wear something like this to work, but I think the skirt would have to be longer for that and I'd have to wear tights.
I just love the shape of this dress. The color would have to be closer to charcoal for me to wear it in gray, though. However...
My absolute favorite part of this dress is the back.
I love lace. This dress is so pretty and the scalloping at the top almost gives it a sweatheart neckline look. For some reason this dress makes me think of hosting a dinner for my friends.
Keeping in mind that fitted satin and rouching are not always your friend [or at least not mine] I can't help but adore this dress. If I had the body to wear it I would in a heartbeat!
This dress looks like chiffon, but aparently it's linen. Who cares, right? It's totally elegant and the perfect color for me. Once again this is a dress that only gets better when you check out the back...

This little beauty is basically in the same style as my Senior Prom dress. Strapless, brocade, and a light under layer of tulle. I love it! It's the perfect color to compliment my skin tone.
I REALLY like this pocketwatch necklace. I have a necklace locket that I picked up in Paris a few years ago and I love wearing it. This one is so pretty and it's functional jewelry!
I just thought this was a really cute necklace. It's also really affordable at only $15.

The great thing is about all these dresses is that most of them are under $100 and let's face it, cost is a big issue for most of us. I like the idea of being able to dress in cute, trendy clothes without breaking the bank. [Fortunately for me, it's my parents' bank right now!] But being a college student I always have to be aware of how little money I have of my own. I know it's gonna continue to be like that for me until I've been working a real job for a while.
Anyway... I'll probably be updating this a few times because I always have an eye open for cute clothes, but that's all for now!

The great thing is about all these dresses is that most of them are under $100 and let's face it, cost is a big issue for most of us. I like the idea of being able to dress in cute, trendy clothes without breaking the bank. [Fortunately for me, it's my parents' bank right now!] But being a college student I always have to be aware of how little money I have of my own. I know it's gonna continue to be like that for me until I've been working a real job for a while.
Anyway... I'll probably be updating this a few times because I always have an eye open for cute clothes, but that's all for now!
